I'm building a retaining wall in my backyard to level out a sloping area. The key is proper drainage and a solid, compacted base with gravel. I'm using interlocking concrete blocks; each row gets backfilled with gravel and slightly set back from the one below. It's slow work, but seeing the wall take shape and stop soil erosion feels really satisfying.
